La Primavera - Day Two

After a nice breakfast at the ministry house, we gathered our materials and went to the settlement (La Primavera) and had the first opportunity to visit the current home of the Chavez family. They live in a small, un-level, poorly roofed shack that is falling down the embankment into the houses below. And then we were able to visit the Chavez' new home. This is the home that our team raised and donated $1,000 to help supply materials for a new roof.

We then spent the morning hauling sand up the steep, uneven "road" to the new home. This was done in order to mix cement for a new cement floor. After hauling so many materials, it was refreshing to spend time with the kids, blowing bubbles, playing soccer and laughing.

The afternoon was filled our VBS program: Daniel and the Lions. We sang songs, shared a story, did several games, and a wonderful craft of a lion puppet (designed by Kacey!) The craft was difficult for the little kids, but the team and the sweet kids of La Primavera did a wonderful job.

We made our way back through the city, and are now resting at home. We are happy and content to eat rice and beans for dinner, and have a chance to rest up before we have another full day at La Primavera tomorrow.

Praise God for good weather, safety, and new friendship based upon the love of God.
