Commenting on Posts

We will be posting daily pictures, updates, and stories during the trip. Any parents, friends or family can comment on these posts, and the team will be able to read your thoughts on what we are doing.

Unfortunately, sometimes commenting on a blogpost is more complicated than it should be. Here is a step-by-step guide to making a comment.

1. Read to the very bottom of the post. At the very bottom, you will see a line of information that says who wrote the post (probably Jesse), the time, and the number of comments on the post. It will look like this:

2. Click on the red link that says "0 comments" (note, you can also select the email, twitter, or facebook pictures to share the post through these sites).

After you click on "0 comments," a box that looks like this should appear:

3. Type in whatever you want to say! Remember, everyone can read this, but feel free to say "hi" to your student, or write a somewhat personal note (not too personal! :)

4. Choose the name to be associated with this comment. You do this by clicking on the "Select profile" next to "Comment as:" A drop-down menu will appear, and there are several options:

  • Sign in through one of the accounts listed (Google, AIM, etc.) If you sign in through an account, all of your account information will be linked
  • Choose Name/URL - by doing this, you can just put your name (first and/or last), and you don't have to put a URL (website). For example, I posted here as "Friendly Visitor"
  • Anonymous - You can also post as "anonymous", and in the comment box leave your name. Remember, if you just post as anonymous, we will be able to see what you write, but we won't know who wrote it unless you tell us!

 5. After you select the name, click on the button that says "Post Comment" to finish, or click on "Preview" to see a preview of what you wrote.

6. After you click "Post Comment," you may have to jump through one more hoop - a "Word verification." Especially if you post as anonymous, or just a name, you will have to copy a random word or series of letters into a box. This is to ensure that you are a real person, and not spam :)

 7. After all this, and you finally click "Post Comment," you should see your comment show up immediately! (See the picture below)

Please practice commenting on some of the blog posts this week. It is a neat way for the team to know that people are reading and care about what we are doing. It's also a neat way for you to communicate with the team while we are busy throughout the day. You can send encouraging notes, make comments about the pictures, or just make a sarcastic remark.
